A large contingent of riders are expected to compete for the Vincent Shield at Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s opening day of the Fairweathers Winter Road series from Forrest Estate Winery at Renwick. The open grade 32km group handicap event covers 4 laps of the Condors Bend Road, Bedford Road, SH63, Anglesea Street, Boyces Road, SH6 circuit. Fastest time is expected to be fought out by scratch riders including Tony Catterick, Brodie Catterick, Andrew Jamieson, Callum Saunders, Jeremy McKenzie, Nick Batt and Ray Dunstan. The junior under 17 grade will compete in a 28km handicap event from Grove Mill Winery up the Waihopai Valley and return for the Opening Day Cup. With the new influx of riders in the junior events over the last season some close racing is expected. Fastest time is expected to come from scratch markers Ethan Batt and Thomas Westend. All riders are to assemble at 1pm for a 1.30pm start at their respective venues.
