Close Competition In Graded Series

Peter Crampton was a clear winner of the ‘A’ grade in Cuddon Cycling
Marlborough’s Summernite series, Cycle World Graded Race No2 at Fairhall
last Wednesday evening. The ‘A’ grade 42km event covered 4 laps of the Benmorven circuit finishing at the Ridge Resort. Crampton, Tony Catterick and Gerard van Antwerpen led in the final stages with Crampton being to strong over the final hill to take line honours over Catterick by 20 seconds with a further 17 seconds back to Van Antwerpen in third place. Catterick leads the series by 2 points over Van Antwerpen. The ‘B’ grade 33km event saw five riders heading the field into the last climb. Andy Petrie’s strong finish held off Ethan Batt with a clear margin to Georgia Catterick, Ben Verhoef and Graham Henderson respectively. Batt clearly leads the series by 7 points over Verhoef. Christopher Grammer continued his winning form in the ‘C’ grade 33km event by just heading off Hugh Trollope and Merrick Thompson in the latter stages. Grammer leads the series by 7 points over Zach Mortimer. The ‘D’ grade event over 24km saw series leader Shaun Woods ride away for a clear win, 2 minutes clear of his nearest rivals James Greer and Connor Guillemot. Woods leads the series by 4 points over Guillemot.
