Top Competition In Grades For Club Champs

Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s riders will face a tough challenge when they compete in the Club Championships on the hilly Seaview course at Seddon tomorrow afternoon. The open grade 40km massed start event covers 2 laps of the course with 6 championship title sashes at stake. The Mills Cup for fastest time will be fought out amongst the usual scratch markers Tony Catterick, Brodie Catterick, Gerard van Antwerpen, Josh Scott, Jeremy McKenzie, Ray Dunstan and Andrew Jamieson. The championship titles will see alot of tactics in play from the frontrunners. The battle for the Masters 45-54yr title will be a hot contest between Tony Catterick, Dunstan and van Antwerpen whilst the Senior Mens title will see Scott and Jamieson in the running. Brodie Catterick and McKenzie will be favourites for the Junior under 19 men and Masters 35-44yr titles respectively. Outside of the top group the favourites for the Masters 55+ will be a good battle between Brent Harris, Ben Verhoef and Martin Fletcher. The Womens title will see Rhonda Murphy and Michelle Catterick in contention. The Gleeson Challenge Cup will go to the winner of the sealed handicap section. The junior under 17 grade riders will compete over 1 lap of the course with two championship title sashes at stake. Quinn Karwowski will be outright favourite for the Junior under 17 Mens title with the minor places a likely clash between Dylan Vile, Thomas Westend, Ethan Batt and Ethan Brydon. The Junior Women’s title will see Georgia Catterick as favourite. Fastest time will take the Jowers Cup whilst the Drake Challenge Cup goes to the sealed handicap winner. All riders are to assemble at the Starborough Tavern for registration between 1pm and 1.15pm for a 1.30pm start.
