Gerard van Antwerpen again showed his consistency in Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s event at Fairhall on Saturday afternoon by recording first place and fastest time.
The 43km open grade handicap event was ridden in windy and wet conditions covering two laps of a circuit from Fairhall hall including Benmorven, the Ridge climb and Godfreys Road. The tough conditions played into the back markers hands when they ran down the majority of the field with 8km to go. Van antwerpen was to strong in the final sprint to head off McKenzie. Leatham Landon-Lane (off 5m) came in 10 seconds later to take third place, heading off Will Hart who had an excellent ride off the 8m 30s mark.
The junior under 17 grade competed in a 20km handicap event over one lap of the circuit. Scratch marker Dylan Vile was dominant to take a well deserved first place and fastest time. Jack Ritchie (off 1m) finished with Vile to take second place whilst his co-marker Zac Mortimer was 20 seconds back in third place.
