Baxter To Dominate Time Again?

Fast racing and close competition is expected when Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s open grade riders compete for the Van Antwerpen trophies from Grovetown tomorrow afternoon.
The open grade 44km handicap event starts and finishes in Vickerman Street, Grovetown and covers 3 laps of the Lower Wairau circuit. The flat and fast circuit has provided some big bunch finishes over the last few years and competition will be keen throughout the handicap marks to keep the scratch markers at bay. George Baxter will be favoured for fastest time honours after his fastest times in the recent Vincent Shield and Funnell Trophy events. His main rivals will be scratch co-markers Gerard van Antwerpen, Peter Crampton, Brodie Catterick, Jeremy Mckenzie, Callum Saunders, Tony Catterick and Andrew Jamieson.
The junior under 17 grade will compete in a 24km handicap event for the Amtman and Sincock trophies. Quinn Karwowski will be hot favorite for time honours with his closest competition coming from Georgia Catterick, and up and coming riders Thomas Westend and Ethan Brydon.
All riders are to assemble at 137 Vickerman Street at 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
