Trollope Takes Double Honours

A brilliant ride by Hugh Trollope saw him take first place and fastest time honours in Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s junior under 17 grade event last Saturday afternoon.
The 16km massed start event drew a good field on the out and return course on Taylor Pass Road. With the high early pace it wasn’t long before the leading group was narrowed down to 4 riders. Continuous attacking on the return journey by Christopher Grammer couldn’t shake Ethan Brydon, Jack Ritchie and Trollope. The final sprint saw Trollope outwit his rivals to take line honours from Grammer, Ritchie and Brydon respectively. The sealed handicap also went to Trollope (off 1m30s) from Anton Horton (off 2m30s) and Grammer (off 20s).
Meanwhile, this Saturday the Junior under 17 grade will compete in a 20km 3 stage event as the riders final buildup to the South Island School Championships in Christchurch next weekend. All riders are to assemble at the Wither Hills Winery at 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
