Windy TT For Track Club Champs

Riders encountered windy conditions in the first evening of Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s club track championships at Athletic Park last Monday evening.
Callum Saunders was easily the quickest rider in the 1000m time trial when he recorded 1m 14.40s to take the Junior Under 19 title over Nick Blakiston (1m 22.09s). Masters rider Glen Herkt (1m 21.47s) took the Senior title over Andy Petrie (1m 23.75s) and Gerard van Antwerpen (1m 24.81s). The Junior Under 17 500m time trial was won by Quinn Karwowski (37.77s) in a good time for the conditions. Saunders also won the open ‘miss and out’ and 8000m scratch events whilst Graham Henderson was the other most consistent rider to take third in both those events.
The previous week’s track evening also saw Saunders in good form with three first places and a second place. Nick Blakiston recorded two second placings whilst Gerard van Antwerpen had a second and two third placings.
