Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s riders will compete in the final two stages of the Curtis Piper Memorial 4 stage event from Renwick tomorrow afternoon.
Stage three of the event is a tough 5km hill time trial into the Delta Lake off SH63. Times will be crucial in this stage with only 24 seconds separating the top 10 riders on overall classification. The final 50km massed start stage follows SH63 up to Wairau Valley township and returns to finish in Condors Bend Road. Three sprints in the final stage allows riders to pick up time bonuses which could easily affect final placings. The handicap section of the event has Craig Anderson as current leader on 12pt from Ben Verhoef (8pt) and Glen Bateman (7pt). The junior under 17 grade riders will have a 25km final stage.
All riders are to assemble at Forrest Estate Winery at 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
