Good conditions saw good times and close competition as Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s club track championships continued at Athletic Park last Monday evening.
The junior under 17 grade 500m time trial saw every rider post personal bests, with Callum Saunders rocketing around the track to record a 36.32 seconds. The minor placings went to Quinn Karwowski (37.98s) and Nick Blakiston (40.21s). The open grade 1000m time trial saw Conway Taylor cruise to victory with a time of 1m 15.20s over Conal Sloan (1m 18.74s) and Finbar McCloy (1m 22.24s).
The semi final of the open grade sprints saw Conway Taylor go to the final with two straight wins over Finbar McCloy. Conal Sloan went straight through to the final by default to Glen Herkt. The final couldn’t have been any closer with Sloan taking two straight rides by inches, over Taylor, to win the title. McCloy automatically took third place.
Saunders also took wins on the night in the ‘miss and out’ over Karwowski and Warren Hall, and the 8000m over Gerard van Antwerpen and Karwowski.
This evening riders will compete in the club championship pursuit events and the junior under 17 grade will also compete for the Neville Hill Cup over 1600m.
