Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s club track championships got underway at Athletic Park last Monday evening with some close results in the sprint competition.
The sprint final of the junior under 17 grade between Callum Saunders and Quinn Karwowski went right down to the wire in the best of three rides. With each rider taking a win the final ride went to Saunders but the result was reversed due to a sprint infringement which gave Karwowski the title. Nick Blakiston beat Nathan McIntyre in two straight rides for third place.
The open sprints went through to the semi-finals with the qualifying riders being Conway Taylor, Finbar McCloy, Conal Sloan and Glen Herkt. The sprints will be completed next Monday evening along with the 500m time trial for junior under 17 grade and the 1000m time trial for the open grade.
