Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s riders will compete in the Henderson Bros. Cups and Dooley cup time trial events from Renwick tomorrow afternoon.
The open grade Henderson Bros. Cups event is ridden on a 51.5km undulating course from Renwick to Havelock and return. Interest will be focussed on the clash between the top three riders Ray Dunstan, Conway Taylor and Jono Lee. Dunstan will be in good form after just returning from the World Masters Championships in Austria where he was placed 14th in the time trial in the 50-54yrs age group. The up and coming youngster Lee will be pushing for his second time trial win this season after defeating Taylor 6 weeks ago in the 40km Vincent Cup event on the Waihopai course. The longer course will probably favour the two older riders, Dunstan and Taylor. The sealed handicap cup will also be closely contested with each rider trying to better their expected times.
The junior under 17 grade riders will compete in the Dooley Cup 16km time trial over 2 laps of the Renwick/Vintage Lane block. A good battle for the cup between Brody Catterick and Callum Saunders is expected.
All riders are to assemble at Forrest Estate Winery, State Highway 1, Renwick at 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
