Some good times were recorded in Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s team time trial events at Renwick last Saturday afternoon. The open grade 40km event covered a course from the Waihopai turnoff on State Highway 63 to just before Wairau Valley township and return. The top team of Tony Catterick, Gerard van Antwerpen, Conway Taylor and Chris Heywood performed as expected in recording a good 54 minutes 12 seconds for the fastest time honours. Competition for the minor placings weren’t as close as predicted with the combination of Sean O,Neill. Jono Lee, Paul Johnson and Ryan Lock recording a quick 55 minutes 43 seconds even after losing Lock early on. David Craig, Martin Fletcher, and Todd Neal rode consistently to take third place in 58 minutes 36 seconds after losing Marcel Mulder (puncture) early on. The handicap section was won by Gill Painter, Cathy Hale, Denis Church and Jim Parker. The junior under 17 grade rode over 20km with the under 15 combination of Will Hart, Callum Saunders, Nick Blakiston and Leatham Landon-Lane riding an encouraging time of 26m 06s.
