The Henderson Bros. Cups will be at stake when Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s open grade riders compete in the testing time trial on the undulating course from Renwick to Havelock and return tomorrow afternoon.
The 51.5km event will have added interest as former National time trial champion and Olympian Robin Reid, now residing in Nelson, returns to ride as part of his buildup towards the National Club Championships in Nelson in October. Reid’s amazing record of 66m 53s set in 2003 will stand for many years with himself being the only rider likely to lower it. Masters riders Ray Dunstan and Conway Taylor will again have a close tussle with Josh Scott and Paul Johnson not far behind. The sealed handicap section will also be closely contested with each rider trying to better their expected times.
The junior under 17 grade will compete in a 16km time trial over 2 laps of the Renwick/Vintage Lane block. Ethan Roach will be favoured to take the Dooley Cup with Callum Saunders not far off the pace.
All riders are to assemble at Forrest Estate at 1pm for a 1.30pm start. All new riders are welcome.
