Large fields are expected at Fairhall tomorrow afternoon when Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s riders compete for the David Duff Memorial Trophy and the Newport Trophy.
The open grade 56km massed start/sealed handicap event will cover a course from Fairhall hall and around the large Hawkesbury circuit 4 times and return. The testing course usually sees the field split up in the first 10km with the stronger riders vying for the trophy and the fastest time medals. With an expected 8-10 riders to finish in the front group the favourites would have to be Gerard van Antwerpen, Conway Taylor, Tony Catterick, Kevin Bishell and Jamie Hawke. With medals also at stake in the handicap section, riders will be trying to group to save valuable time.
The junior under 17 grade will race in a 26km massed start/sealed handicap event around the small Hawkesbury circuit twice and return. Good rivalry will be expected again between Ethan Roach and Callum Saunders for the fastest time honours.
All riders are to assemble at Fairhall hall at 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
