Competition is keen as Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s riders prepare themselves for the Vincent Cup and Verhey Cup time trial on the Waihopai Valley Road tomorrow afternoon.
The open grade 40km event follows a rolling course from Grove Mill Winery to just beyond Craiglochart and return. The highlight of the event will be the clash between top summer time trialists Ray Dunstan and Conway Taylor. With the right conditions a fastest time of around 55-56 minutes could be seen. Interest will also be focussed on the performances of Paul Johnson, Gerard van Antwerpen and 7 times Vincent Cup winner Kevin Bishell who will all be a threat. The Verhey Cup will go to the best performance on handicap.
The junior under 17 grade will compete in a 16km time trial to the Spy Base and return. Ethan Roach will be favoured for time over Callum Saunders and Pim Greven.
All riders are to assemble opposite the Grove Mill Winery at 1pm for a 1.30pm start. All new riders most welcome.
