Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s road season got off to a good start with good numbers and many new riders at the muster day from Fairhall hall last Saturday afternoon.
The open grade competed in graded events around the Benmorven circuit. The small elite field rode over 54km (6 laps) with Gerard van Antwerpen taking line honours over Tony Catterick and Kevin Bishell. The ‘B’ grade 36km (4 laps) event was more closely fought out with 10 riders sprinting for the line. Josh Roach claimed victory over Brett Walker and Ethan Roach. The ‘C’ grade 36km saw the biggest field and another good finish with Mike Murphy heading off Glen Herkt, and Todd Neal heading in the rest of the group. New riders took the ‘D’ grade placings with Steve Smith winning from Jane Bamfield and Laurel Cross. Henry Barnett, Leatham Landon-Lane and Sonya Ginders took the placings respectively in the 18km junior under 17 event from a good field of new riders.
