Wednesday, February 18th, 2009
Three records were smashed at the final time trial of Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s Bike HQ Summernite series last Wednesday evening.
Although crosswinds on the New Renwick Road/Godfreys Road 16km course did not provide perfect conditions, the top riders were fired up for the last event. Ray Dunstan (20m 28s) was again fastest over the course breaking his own 45-54yrs record of 20m 37s set last December. Second place went to Conway Taylor (20m 41s) who lowered his own 35-44yrs record of 20m 57s set 2 weeks ago. Other qick times on the night went to Paul Johnson (21m 49s), Jamie Kidd (22m 22s), Josh Scott (22m 45s) and Martin Fletcher (22m 48s). Fletcher’s time set a new record in the 55yrs+ category, breaking Ian Shapcott’s record of 23m 10s set in February last year.
The handicap section was won by Kidd with an 8s gap to Kevin Hawkins and another 5s to Ali Windleburn.
