January 4th, 2012Consistent Kidd Wins
December 29th, 2011Consistent riding gave Jamie Kidd the win in Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s Summernite Series, Cycle World Stage Race No3 from Fairhall last Wednesday evening.
The first 9km stage started at Wither Hills Winery and covered a lap of the Benmorven circuit before finishing at the top of the Ridge Resort Hill. Five riders hit the last climb together with Quinn Karwowski having a clear win over Kidd, Craig Anderson, Ben Verhoef and Graham Henderson. Stage two covered 11km from the Ridge Resort, around the small Hawkesbury circuit to finish in Dog Point Road. A short break on Brookby Road by Karwowski and Verhoef was quickly contained with six riders lining up for the sprint to the line. Karwowski led out to hold off Henderson, Kidd, Verhoef and Anderson. The final 6km stage home saw Karwowski as a non-starter which put kidd in the box seat for the overall win. A furious sprint to the line saw Brent Ackroyd take line honours over Verhoef, Kidd, Henderson and Anderson.
The overall classification saw Kidd as the victor by 8 seconds to Verhoef, with Henderson third on the same time. The sealed handicap were a replica of the time placings.
