Comfortable Win For Tuckerman

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
Aaron Tuckerman who is currently back from the United States, cleaned up in Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s criterium events at the Blenheim go kart track last Wednesday evening.
The initial event was a one lap time trial with Jamie Hawke coming out a clear winner on 1m 18s. The minor placings went to Brent Ackroyd (1m 21s) with Tom Francis, Ethan Roach and Conway Taylor all on 1m 22s for 3rd equal. A 5 lap handicap event saw Roger Golding (off 1m 20s) clear out from the front group and win by a comfortable 12 seconds to Tuckerman (off scatch) and Hawke (off scratch) who had come right through the large field. The main event of the evening was the 10 lap ‘A’ grade event which has sprint points throughout the race. The first of 5 sprints went to Roach from Hawke and Andrew Jamieson. After that Tuckerman moved through and formed a break with Hawke and Francis. Francis had an unlucky spill when his tyre rolled and hawke took the next sprint from Tuckerman with Taylor chasing in third. Tuckerman then just comfotably rode away and controlled the race to win by 1 point to Hawke (17pt) and Taylor (9pt). A ‘B’ grade event over 4 laps saw youngster Nathan McIntyre have a clean sweep on the sprints to win on 20pt from Golding (9pt) and Stuart Curnow (9pt) in third place.
