Time Trial Records Tumble

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008
Three records tumbled at Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s Bike HQ Summernite Series time trial from Wither Hills Winery last Wednesday evening.
The third 16km time trial in the series saw an almost perfect night with cool and calm conditions on the New Renwick Road/Godfreys Road out and return course. The first record of the evening went to Ray Dunstan (20m 37s) who shaved an amazing 31 seconds off his own Masters 45-54yrs record set just 2 weeks ago. The next record went to visiting rider Dale Tye (22m 54s) who was impressive by chopping 32 seconds off Bronwen Frazer’s Womens record set earlier this year. However, Frazer the recently crowned National Club Time Trial Champion wasn’t to be denied and lowered the record to 22m 39s with a brilliant ride.
The overall results on the night saw Dunstan take the fastest time from Paul Johnson (21m 57s) and Frazer. The sealed handicap went to up and coming junior under 17 rider Will Hart by 30s to Graham Henderson and another 14s back to Sharon de Castro and Glen Herkt in equal third place.
